This Drumming Circle is lead by Patricia Paterson in the Native American style. Hand drums are used by all that attend. Some Native American style rattles and flutes are also incorporated into the Circle. Pat teaches us about the Native American ways, believes, seasons, medicine wheels, animal totems and much more. We use different beat patterns to do many things from sending away the bad energy, calling in the good spirits and energy, opening up charkas, healing Mother Earth and all of her inhabitents, using the different animal totems to help us were they can, and of course thanking all the different directions and the wonderful Tree of Life. "I love going to this Circle. I find it educational, fun, powerful, and even spiritual. I can go into it dead tried and come out renewed/reborn and ready to take on the next month." If you are bringing moose medicine into your life, it can help you walk through very deep (sometimes difficult) times. It is often a part of the shaman or seeker who finds his or her way using spiritual insights and having the courage to take on issues that others may not want to take on. It also is a helper for those whose lives have forced them to deal with difficult things that others may not have to go through.
Moose lives and is sustained in and near the water (feminine element/spiritual). It says that if you are walking with moose, you are one who listens to the voice within and the consciousness of spirit.

Horse (Tashuunka Wakan)When the Sioux first saw the horse and a man riding it they called it Shunnka (dog) Wakan (holy). They called it holy dog because it could carry man about, and this allowed the buffalo to be hunted much more efficiently. It lived with man like a dog, yet it had so much power. Later the horse was called Shunnka Tanka (a very large dog). The black horse in Black Elk's vision symbolized the first power of the universe, the west power. The black horse as a creature symbol on the sacred hoop of life represents Black Elk's powerful vision. A white horse, a roan (red) horse and a buckskin or yellow horse would equally be representative of Black Elk's vision, and the four of them together would represent the first four powers of the rainbow-covered lodge. The horse upon a shield or on a painting can be a recognition of the great vision. It is also an encouragement that the powerful spirit forces Wolf (Shuunka Manitu)Wolf, like many humans, is a misunderstood animal. True, Wolf is a predator. It chases down it's prey and kills with its powerful jaws, but it is only fulfilling the Great Spirit's overall plan for natural selection and reduction. Wolf is like many of two-leggeds. It is territorial, hunts or seeks provisions through group effort, and is a loyal and dedicated family participant along with having an equally dedicated tribal bond to it's pack. have not forgotten the Natural Way and will be there to help if called upon. |
By Drumming the heartbeat of the Universe we strengthen the connections between all life. |

Coral made her own Native American Style Hand Drum at Judith's 2008 Work Shop. It was truely a LABOR of LOVE in the birthing of her wonderful new baby/drum. We had every emotion, smiles to tears, nap, and of course food. Many Thanks to all that were part of the process. No fingers were injuried in the process, yeah. |

Oh Great Spirit In the name of Raven. In the name of Wolf. In the name of Whale. Who have taught us. Who have guided us. Who have sustained us. Who have healed us. Please heal the animals. In the name of Raven. In the name of Wolf. In the name of Whale. In the name of Snake. Whom we have slaughtered. Whom we have feared. Whom we have caged. Whom we have persecuted. Whom we have slandered. Whom we have curse. Whom we have tortured. Please protect the animals. In the name of Raven. In the name of Wolf. In the name of Whale. In the name of Snake. Whose habitat we have stolen. Whose territory we have plundered. Whose feeding grounds we have paved or netted. Whose domain we have poisoned. Whose food we have approprated. Whose young we have killed. Whose lives and ways of life we threaten. Please restore the animals. In the name of Raven. In the name of Wolf. In the name of Whale. In the name of Snake. Forgive us. Have mercy. May they return. Not as a resurrection, but as living beings. Here. On this earth that is also theirs. Oh Great Spirit. Please heal the animals. Please protect animals. Please restore the animals. So our lives may also be healed. So our souls may also return. So our spirits may also be restored. Oh spirit of Raven. Oh spirit of Wolf. Oh spirit of Whale. Oh Spirit of Snake. Teach us, again, how to live. ----Deena Metzger The Soul of Nature Animals As Teachers & Healers |
