Equine protozoal myeloencephalitis is a debilitating and potentially fatal disease caused  by the protozoan Sarcocytis neurona.  This organism commonly produces multifocal, asymmetrical lesions in the brain and particularly the spinal cord.  Infection results from ingestion of the infective stage of the parasite (sporocysts) in food or water contaminated by the feces of infected opossums, the definitive host.  Onset of signs is usually acute and progressive.  Reported signs are variable - frequent stumbling and falling are the most commonly reported signs.  Gait abnormalites are usually asymetrical owing to the mulifocal nature of the disease.

Dr Snell has treated many EPM cases with full recovery.  She has used indiviualized treatment methods that may include a combination of the following: VOM, NAET, Acpunture, Reiki, Homotoxicogoly and a wonderful Chinese Herbal Formula for EPM.  The length of treatment depends on the severity of signs at the first treatment.  Improvement is often seen after the first treatment. 

Most of the horses treated by conventional medicine for EPM without inprovement proir to Dr. Snell seeing them were found to be allergic via muscle responce testing to the conventional EPM medication.

Chip

Started Holistic and Traditional Treatment at the same time. Chip would violently refuse the conventional medication so it was not used.  Later Chip was tested allgeric to the conventional medication.  After 4 treatments with Dr Snell Chip won almost everything at their county fair!!!
